ADSL What is ADSL?
ADSL ("Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line") is a type of DSL. It works by splitting your existing telephone line signal into two, one for voice and the other for data. ADSL technology can work at up to 8Mbps download. The most popular services in the UK at the moment are running at speeds of 512Kbps (approx. 10 times faster than a modem), although speeds of up to 2Mbps can be obtained. Upload speeds are 256Kbps on all products and hence this is why it is "asymmetric", because the download speed is different to the upload speed.

'ADSL' Home 512K Self install - £24.99 (inc VAT) per month
Download from the Internet at a speed off 512k and up load at 256K for only £27.99 per month (inc vat). Suitable for a stand-alone PC, 'Always-on' and 10 times faster than conventional modems - ADSL will transform the way you and your family use the Internet. Contention rates of up to 50:1 are expected on the service (you share the available bandwidth with up to 50 users), although it is generally agreed that rarely would all be transferring data at full speed simultaneously.

'ADSL' Business Packages
In the past, there were few alternatives when small to medium sized businesses wanted much more from the Internet than their dial-up connection could provide: they would have to upgrade to ISDN, or a dedicated leased line. The costs involved were often restrictive, and the speed gains could be disappointing. Today, ADSL Business packages offers a very different and much more affordable high-speed solution.

ADSL uses a separate frequency that allows voice or fax calls on the same BT line that you use for your broadband connection - even if you are using the Internet at the same time. It can save the cost of a second line, and it will certainly add a new range of possibilities to the way you use the Internet. Business ADSL enables any business to make the change from dial-up to broadband, using their existing BT telephone line.

ADSL broadband access will not only improve the way you do business, it will transform the way you use the Internet, removing dial-up speed restrictions and providing you with a fixed-cost low-price service that's easy to reckon into your budget. Your Internet access costs will be exactly the same every month.
